Brian Carpenter President CATS Classic Cougar Club

Robert Harvey was a CATS member and very excited to complete his dream of concours restoring his 1968 Cougar. He started with a very nice rust free Cougar that most people would agree didn't need a full restoration. He wanted this Cougar to be a top concours example and began the journey to restore it to a top level. Robert documented his jounney of the restoration here:   https://www.mercurycougar.net/threads/wow-its-going-to-be-a-long-road.54869/

Robert started the restoration March 15, 2011 and passed away October 15, 2018. He was in the final two weeks of completing the restoration. His son Jesse finished up a couple of minor things to complete the car and it runs and drives. Since it's completion it has been sitting the last four year and his wife Sheri has decided the Cougar needs to be in the hands of someone who will enjoy it. Everything on this Cougar is new or restored and has yet to be driven any distance since the restoration.

1997 Mercury Cougar XR-7 30th Anniversary Edition

Today, we have for sale a very nice 1997 Mercury Cougar XR7 30th Anniversary Edition shown in Light Prairie Tan Clearcoat Metallic with Light Prairie Tan leather interior.  This car is very nicely equipped with 30th Anniversary ornamentation, unique front bucket seats with power side bolsters, auto-dimming inside rearview mirror, unique lace-spoke aluminum wheels, PLUS, single-zone automatic climate controls, AM/FM Stereo/Cassette Player radio, cruise control, keyless remote entry and 6-way power adjustable driver and passenger seats.  The Cougar has 113,855 miles on it, which equates to just under 5,000 miles per year driven average.  The Michelin Defender XT 225/60R16 tires were purchased in 2015 and have 10,000 miles on them.

Power comes from the 3.8L Essex V6 engine and sends that power to the rear wheels through a 4-speed 4R70W automatic transmission.

This Cougar once belonged to the seller’s mother, who was the original owner, who gave it to her. In addition, this car also comes with the gold-colored laser etched Mini MagLite, Un-cut key blank and the umbrella!

Please note that there are some minor issues with the car, as it is a 1997, and here they are;

1. Our 97 Cougar was hit while parked at a relative’s house.  A neighbor backed into the driver’s front fender also damaging the turn signal light.

2. The night the Detroit Pistons won the championship, someone sideswiped the vehicle while parked on our street.  The driver’s side of the car, the rear of the car and entire rear fender had to be repainted. It is that clear coat in those areas that is deteriorating now.

3.  Front hood and grill are also slightly damaged from someone backing into me while I was in a stopped position.

4.  I also wanted any buyer to be aware of the visible rust.

-SOLD!!!- 1969 Mercury Cougar XR7-G - One of 619 Built!

‘SHELBYIZED’ ’68 COUGAR XR7-G.

Please Google this Cougar, it was a very unique history as well as well equipped Cougar for its time. It is a one year production car of which 619 were ever produced.

I purchased this car in Feb 2020 before all the virus issues etc. It was going to be (still might be) my first classic car that my father and I wanted before he passed away. I thought it would be fun but due to new medical issues with family members, my life is changing from a car-giver to a full time healthcare-giver. This cat needs to run instead of being locked up in the garage, waiting to see if I will get back to it. It is located near Petersburg, IL, about 24 miles northwest of Springfield, IL.

For Sale:

Called "Cool Cat," this 1969 Cougar convertible was created by renowned Hot Rod builder Hot Rod Express. The only original DNA left after creation was the body. Every part of this car was carefully designed, created, picked and fabricated. Nothing was left untouched, from the serious horsepower of a 32-valve, dual overhead cam motor attached to a 4-speed overdrive transmission, to a narrowed 9" 31-spline rear end with 3.73 gears, full air ride system and 4-wheel disc brakes. All of this is supported by a fully custom designed, boxed, tubular frame with Heidt's front suspension and a triangle 4-bar rear. Sitting on this platform is an all-steel body, fully welded uni-body with notched floors, so the rocker panels are flush to the bottom of the frame. The factory dash was sectioned 5", all custom dash panels made from imported Carpathian elm wood, custom Ultraleather interior with custom BMW carpeted floors. The paint is PPG Vibrant Nutmeg. Absolutely nothing was left untouched and way too much detail to list. Featured in multiple magazines and winner of Goodguys Top 5 award, ROUSH Racing award, Ford in a Ford award and ISCA Top Show Winner just to name a few.

Asking $125,000.
