HINES PARK CRUISE
HINES PARK CRUISE

CATS members,
As 2016 comes to an end we have come a long ways with the CATS club this year. Back in January when we had a small meeting at Ray Bischoff house to decide if we wanted to pursue a national 50th event at Ford World Headquarters. The first order of business was to re-establish the CATS club and become an organized regional club with the Cougar club of America. It was decided with direction from CCOA to move forward and give it a go and see what we could put together. My estimates were if we can get around 20 – 25 CATS members it would be a successful start of the club. We are now at 42 members! Which far surpassed my expectations. Sometimes in life things just fall in place and were meant to be. Like Mark Kulwik becoming involved in the club and offering all of his help and experience with working at Ford and knowledge of putting on a show like this from his involvement in the Motor City Shelby Club. Scott Zeller with his eye on design and ability to put together an excellent web site that I feel is as good as the other regional Cougar clubs. John & Dee Bauman with their many years of putting on all kinds of Cougar shows and the services they offer to the Cougar community with their Cougar parts business. Ray Bischoff has been working hard keeping our finances in order as membership and 50th anniversary show registrations come in. Mike Keast is busy keeping track of the 50th show registrations and dinner tickets and sending out confirmation letters. Gary Hill is keeping track of our sponsors for the 50th show and has offered a lot of knowledge to the club with his experience as a business owner. With this team of experts we are actually staying ahead of the planning phases of the 50th show. I have gotten e-mails from CATS members offering to volunteer to help during the 50th show and we will need more as the planning continues.
As we ring in the new year of 2017 all efforts will be focused on the 50th anniversary show in June. I think as a club we have a show agenda that will go down in the Cougar community history as one of best Cougar events ever attended. Although, the Board of Directors (BoD) hasn’t spent much effort to look beyond the 50th anniversary show doesn’t mean it hasn’t been discussed and thought about. The BoD meeting we had in October was closed with the question “what is next for the CATS Classic Cougar Club”. We decided that as a club that covers a large demographic area that we need to find venues around our area to have a CATS show in different locations than Michigan. As members, offer up suggestion you might have for a CATS show or gathering in your area. This could be our own show or in conjunction with an established car show. Maybe a Cougar cruise and cookout. We have also discussed just a CATS club get together during the 50th anniversary weekend. On behalf of the Board of Directors and myself. We wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Enjoy the time with your family and we look forward to 2017 being and exciting year for the CATS club, Cougar 50th anniversary in Dearborn and Cougar community.
Best regards,
Brian Carpenter,
President CATS Classic Cougar Club
